1. Introduction
Faithvine (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Christian prayer and discipleship mobile application. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the Faithvine app.
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used for authentication and account recovery
- Name — displayed on your profile and to other users
- Password (hashed, never stored in plaintext) — or, if you sign in with Google or Apple, an opaque provider ID (we never receive your Google/Apple password)
2b. Content You Create
- Prayer and praise titles and descriptions — content you submit through the app
- Prayer status updates — updates you post about your prayer (e.g., Praying, Answered, Mystery)
- Comments — text you write on prayers and praises
- Group names and descriptions — content you create when forming a group
2c. Social Activity
- Follow relationships — which users you follow and who follows you
- Group membership — which groups you belong to
- Group join requests — groups you have asked to join, and pending requests awaiting approval for groups you lead
- Prayer log entries — prayers from other users you have added to your personal log
We collect technical data necessary to operate and improve the service:
- App usage logs (errors, crash reports) for debugging, via Google Firebase Crashlytics
- App version — our own servers record which version of the Faithvine app your account last used, and when. We use it only to know whether an update would break the version you still have installed, so we can keep older versions working. It is not shared with anyone and is deleted with your account.
- Product analytics — we use Google Firebase Analytics to record in-app events (such as creating a prayer or praise, sharing or using a group invite code, requesting to join a group and that request being approved or declined, a group’s owner or admins managing its members, roles and details, or which screens you view) along with basic device/app information, solely to understand how Faithvine is used so we can improve it. This may be associated with your account, but we do not use it for advertising and do not sell it or share it with third parties for their own purposes. We collect no advertising identifiers.

We do not use your information for:
- Advertising or marketing to third parties
- Selling your data
- Automated profiling or decision-making
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Within the app: Your name and prayers are visible to other users based on the visibility setting you choose for each prayer:
- Public — visible to all authenticated users
- Friends — visible only to users who follow you
- Small Group — visible only to members of the group you associate the prayer with
- Private — visible only to you
Service providers: We use the following infrastructure providers to operate the service:
- Railway (railwayapp.io) — backend hosting (United States)
- Neon (neon.tech) — PostgreSQL database hosting (United States)
- Expo / EAS (expo.dev) — mobile app delivery
- Google / Apple — Sign-in providers (subject to their own privacy policies)
These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.
Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:
- Your profile, prayers, praises, comments, group memberships, and any pending group join requests are permanently deleted
- Deleted data is purged from backups within 30 days
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent for push notifications (via device settings)

7. Data Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS). Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage. We never store plaintext passwords or unencrypted authentication tokens.
8. Children’s Privacy
Faithvine is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Push Notifications
If you enable push notifications, we may send you alerts when:
- Users comment on your prayers or praises
- A prayer you are following receives a status update
- Someone in your friends or groups shares a new prayer or praise
You can turn off push notifications in the app (Settings › Reminders › Notifications), mute an individual group, or disable them entirely through your device’s Settings app.
Your notification and reminder settings (for example, whether daily prayer reminders are on and at what time) are stored with your account so they carry over to a new device. Prayer reminders themselves are scheduled on your device and are not sent through our servers.
10. International Users
Your data is stored and processed in the United States. By using Faithvine, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States, which may have different data protection rules than your country.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you through the app.
