1. Introduction

Faithvine (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Christian prayer and discipleship mobile application. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the Faithvine app.

2. Information We Collect

2a. Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

Email address — used for authentication and account recovery
Name — displayed on your profile and to other users
Password (hashed, never stored in plaintext) — or, if you sign in with Google or Apple, an opaque provider ID (we never receive your Google/Apple password)

2b. Content You Create

Prayer titles and descriptions — content you submit through the app
Prayer status updates — updates you post about your prayer (e.g., Praying, Answered, Mystery)
Comments — text you write on prayers
Group names and descriptions — content you create when forming a group

Follow relationships — which users you follow and who follows you
Group membership — which groups you belong to
Prayer log entries — prayers from other users you have added to your personal log

2d. Technical Information

We collect minimal technical data necessary to operate the service:

App usage logs (errors, crash reports) for debugging purposes
No advertising identifiers, no behavioral tracking, no analytics beyond error logs

3. How We Use Your Information

Within the app: Your name and prayers are visible to other users based on the visibility setting you choose for each prayer:

Public — visible to all authenticated users
Friends — visible only to users who follow you
Small Group — visible only to members of the group you associate the prayer with
Private — visible only to you

Service providers: We use the following infrastructure providers to operate the service:

Railway (railwayapp.io) — backend hosting (United States)
Neon (neon.tech) — PostgreSQL database hosting (United States)
Expo / EAS (expo.dev) — mobile app delivery
Google / Apple — Sign-in providers (subject to their own privacy policies)

These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.

Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

Your profile, prayers, comments, and group memberships are permanently deleted
Deleted data is purged from backups within 30 days

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access a copy of your personal data
Correct inaccurate information
Delete your account and all associated data
Export your data in a portable format
Withdraw consent for push notifications (via device settings)

7. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS). Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage. We never store plaintext passwords or unencrypted authentication tokens.

8. Children’s Privacy

Faithvine is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we may send you alerts when:

Users comment on your prayers
A prayer you are following receives a status update

You can disable push notifications at any time through your device’s Settings app.

10. International Users

Your data is stored and processed in the United States. By using Faithvine, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States, which may have different data protection rules than your country.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you through the app.
